The Best Snorkeling Spots In Bali

One thing I like the most from Bali apart from the beauty of landscapes, one of them is the beauty of the underwater panorama. Indeed, there are many snorkeling spots in Bali, ranging from the ordinary - just ordinary, until the best to visit.

Because I buff whose name water activity, snorkeling has never escaped from my list of water activity. Pity it if you were already traveling to Bali but did not enjoy the underwater view of Bali. If I may say, Bali was the closest and most economical place to learn about the underwater life Indonesia, before Snorkeling to Wakatobi, Bunaken or Raja Ampat.

As the island became a tourism icon of Indonesia, Bali has some snorkeling and diving spots that are quite interesting to try. Call it two places I've ever tried; Amed with Japanese Shipwreck as snorkeling spot, and the Island of Menjangan which in my opinion is the best snorkeling spots on the island. Interested?

Okay, we start from the island of Menjangan!

Menjangan Island, The Best Snorkeling Spot in Bali

My favorite spot! Even when tried snorkeling in this place, I immediately fell in love at first sight with the beautiful underwater scenes of Menjangan Island. Menjangan Island is actually the uninhabited islands that located in the west of Bali island. The island is also one part of the West Bali National Park. Perhaps because far from the reach of humans, so the underwater landscape of the Menjangan island still preserved, and be the best on the island of Bali.

Menjangan Island location slightly away from the heart of Bali's tourism. To reach the island of Menjangan we have to travel for approximately 3 hours to Labuan Lalang, which is the crossing point of the island of Menjangan.

Whew! Quite far away. You're right, a saucy place in Bali definitely hidden and located so far, even after arriving at the crossing point Labuhan Lalang; it still takes about 30 minutes to cross to the Menjangan Island. Boat to cross to the Menjangan Island itself can be rent in Labuhan Lalang. For those who do not have their own snorkel sets, at Labuhan Lalang also has snorkel sets rental that cost about 5 USD.

The best time for snorkeling in Menjangan Island is from morning until mid-morning. If you are departing from Denpasar, it is better to leave early and do not drive the vehicle by yourself. In order to better enjoy the underwater scenes with fully at Menjangan Island.

Snorkeling spots on the island do not exist in one place only, but there are a few places, and by chance I have ever tried in two points. The first snorkeling spot was near Menjangan Island dock, right near its shores.

Maybe because it was too close to the beach and the dock, not seen many coral reefs. I only saw a few fish were intentionally through. Funny really, as they tried to get me acquainted. After trying to swim a little bit into the middle, I saw more coral reefs, the number of fish that swam also seen more and more.

The second snorkeling spot was not too far from the first spot, only the location of snorkeling near the cliffs. The boat was not docking like at the first spot. In the second spot, the water looked clearer, even the coral reefs which were under water could be seen before I plunged into the water.

As seen from the surface, the underwater scenery was indeed absolutely amazing. Moreover, the sights of coral reef near the trough of the sea, the fish were more colorful. If you are lovers of an adrenaline rush, maybe you can try to float above the trough without using float, or try the free dive in the sea near the trough there.

Amed, Favorite Snorkeling Place!

If Menjangan Island is the best place for snorkeling, then Amed is one place that has quite a lot of snorkeling spots on the island of Bali. Some of the snorkeling spots located just a few meters from the shoreline, so no need to rent a boat like in Menjangan island to go to a snorkeling spot. Put your snorkel set and SLOSH! Swim to the snorkel spot.

Amed itself is actually a fishing village located along the east coast of Bali. Because Amed has many snorkeling spots which are located just a few meters from the beach, make this place attractive to spend a vacation while snorkeling until satisfied.

One of them is the "Japanese shipwreck" snorkel spot which is my favorite spot when snorkeling in Amed. This snorkeling spot is in Banyuning and one of the best snorkeling spots in Amed.

Moreover to see the rest of World War II ship you do not need to bother dive or rent a boat again. Because, the ship that has foundered were only at a distance of 20 m from the shore, and was at a depth of about 2 meters. So to see it stay floating on the surface or just do free dive alone. Besides in this place, there are also more fish than in Amed's other snorkeling spots

Nusa Lembongan, The New Snorkeling Enchantment In Bali.

Nusa Lembongan is arguably as a new favorite place to be visited when holiday in Bali. The location is only about 30 minutes by fast boat from Sanur, make Nusa Lembongan quickly popular. The island which located not far from Bali is a bit similar to Gili Trawangan, but quieter and slightly larger in size.

There are many favorite activities that can be done in Nusa Lembongan itself. One of them is a bike riding around the island, surfing at several points around the island. Don't forget, snorkeling around Nusa Lembongan is also one of the favorite activities. Even some point snorkel around Nusa Lembongan is really the main goal of one-day snorkeling trip from Bali.

Best Time For Snorkeling In Bali And Surrounding

Avoid snorkeling in the rainy season, because the underwater visibility will be very bad during the rainy season. In addition, the temperature of the water during the rainy season also tends to be cooler.
Morning till noon is the best time for snorkeling, wind in the morning is usually quieter and ocean currents are not too strong. Automatically snorkeling will not be quickly exhausted.

Transportation To Some Points of Snorkeling In Bali

Menjangan Island or Amed accessible from Kuta or Denpasar within 3-4 hours, the best way is renting a car from Kuta or Denpasar. Car rental price includes driver ranging from 400-550 thousand Rupiah.
For Menjangan island, from Labuhan Lalang still have to rent a boat to cross to the Menjangan island. Crossing to the Menjangan island takes about 30 minutes and the boat rental price of about 400 thousand rupiah's for 4 hours snorkeling.
If you want Snorkeling at Nusa Lembongan, you can go straight to Nusa Lembongan, stay in there and look for local operators who can deliver to some snorkel points in there. Or if you do not want to stay, you can use one day trip to Nusa Lembongan, which included snorkeling like Bounty Cruise.
